Obviously, God’s grace is infinite, so we are not called to increase the supply of grace. However, we are to grow in grace. 2 Peter 3:18 Grace is to be multiplied to us through the knowing of God and Jesus more intimately. 2 Peter 1:2 Maybe that refers to the urge to us to give all diligence and add to our faith, virtue, and to virtue, knowledge. 2 Peter 1:5 Maybe it refers to increasing ability to remember, picture, and act in the fact of God’s grace.
Practically, what are some ways grace would show in our lives so that we may cultivate more of its power and influence?
- Remember that we owe him everything as the chief of sinners FORGIVEN. So we need to cut others some slack. Matthew 18:22
- Remember that we are bought with a price and any request of his is just reasonable service. Romans 12:1
- Be able to be reprooved by the Holy Spirit, the Word and even others without feeling condemned. Romans 8:1
- Rejoice always and be grateful for and in everything, no matter what, and even if we can’t see anything to be grateful for. 1 Thessalonians 5:18; Ephesians 4:20 And again I say rejoice! Philippians 4:4
- Seeing the worth and hope for all we meet and praying for them to find grace.
- Facing each opportunity with boldness, hope and God’s power. 2 Timothy 1:7
So, let’s not just sing about amazing grace; let us grow in our ability to rest in it, picture it, be empowered by it and share its wonders with all we meet.
