The trouble with the King’s english is meanings change. The psalm is promising us that God will provide the tools and needs for us to serve him and others. Having food and clothing we are to be content. However we are to want, want, want more of righteousness, panting with thirst for more of God. Matthew 5:6 We are to long and pray that his kingdom come, his will be done right here on earth. Luke 11:2 We are to long to see new wandering sheep drawn into the fold. Luke 15:7 We are to wrestle with him for his blessings, especially for a new name full of hope and relationship. Genesis 32:26 We are to nag him to bless those whom we love, Matthew 15:23-28
Zacheus clambered up a tree to see Jesus. Naaman travelled to a far country on the advice of a slave to be healed. The blind beggar refused to shut up when they rebuked him and was healed. We are to pray without ceasing for the brethren. Romans 1:9 We are to sit at Jesus’ feet soaking in every word like Martha.
God wants us to want, to ask and to strive and he will give it to us pressed down heaped up and running over.
So don’t worry about food and clothing, (And in Michigan warm housing) but instead be grateful for all of God that he has given you and keep asking for more.
They say that eating Chinese food fills for a bit but soon you are empty and hungry. Dinking of the living waters fills us, overflows to those around us and prepares us to receive even more. Praise God!
