GRANDKIDS BEING MISTREATED

I’ve had a few friends who have been unable to find peace due to a constant focus on the situation of their grandchildren.

Mind you, they’ve done all that they can do. One even called child protective services only to have them find insufficient evidence of a problem. That, of course, wound up costing the grandchildren a year of not being able to see their grandmother. Some cut themselves off from the family because they find contact with the children too painful for them.

God calls us to suffering. We love to be partakers in the power of Jesus’ resurrection but are we eager to partake in the fellowship of his sufferings. In order to preserve free will and meaning and logic, God has to watch a lot more painful evil goings-on than any of us do. He wants us to care, to pray, to seize each opportunity to minister.  AND TO STOP TAKING IT PERSONAL! It’s not about us, it’s about the welfare of the grandchildren. Ask God to help you to look deeper. You will be so sure that your concern is just because of the little ones. Maybe the Holy Spirit will use the situation to help you let go of control and reputation issues you don’t even realize are there.

Pray always, don’t drag the children into the review of the negatives. (yes, if they are being abused you need to check with them and seek help) I’m talking about after you’ve done all you can and don’t like to current unchangeable situation. We have a tendency to circle round and round on the real and troubling details of the problem of the past and of the possible consequences. I’m assuming we think we will find a solution buried somewhere. However, remember that most of the most severe damage to children in these situations comes from the tensions boiling around in the adults they love.

Remember, it only takes one adult saying to the child, “I don’t care what anyone else thinks, I think you are great and have an awesome future ahead-and God agrees with me”, to give that child something to hang onto and survive and even thrive under stress.

Have you used your tool of THANKS, HELP , SHOW ME MY PART? Remember, you don’t have to be able to see any possible thing to be thankfull for, you just have to worship God by acknowledging that he is bigger that this also.

LORD HELP ME START WITH MYSELF SEE IF THERE BE ANY WICKED WAY IN ME AND HELP ME TO SEE THAT YOU LOVE THE ONES I LOVE EVEN MORE THAN I DO AND ARE AT WORK IN THEIR LIVES EVEN WHEN I CAN’T CONTROL ALL THAT HAPPENS TO THEM.
