PICK UP YOUR ARMOR AND USE IT

There’s the armor that you put on and the armor you wield.

Faith is armor you wield.

You might object saying that the shield of Faith is not wielded but rather it is held and passively blocks the fiery darts of the wicked.

The roman soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder and did deflect the incoming arrows with their shields, but it’s main use was, as the army advanced or came under attack, to push over the enemy soldier and then stab him with their short swords. The shield was truly an offensive, attack weapon.

So, what does it mean to “take” up this weapon? How will taking it up cause the fiery darts to be deflected?

Well, much has been written on faith and I am sure you have some thoughts. Here are some of mine that I find practical and useful.  I believe that taking up the shield of faith means to observe remember and declare the acts of the Holy Spirit in your life, to watch as “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

I need to watch for God at work in my life and use the examples that I see for the following:

A. Calm myself down as I face a new day remembering that he who has begun and been at work in me can handle this too.

B. I counter the devil’s attacks by declaring, ” I can see how you would question my worth strength and security, but see here, God thinks that I am a useful tool and has used my yielded body members so go take it up with him.”

C. I try to bring glory to God when talking to others, both fellow believers and non believers by testifying “God has helped me, strengthened me, guided me,disciplined me, taught me, healed me and I have seen him do that in others lives in the following ways.”

D. I help others understand the practically applied principles of God by sharing examples of these principles in my own experience.

E. I let others see the beauty of the treasure held in my clay frame and that, “If God could do this through me just think what he could do through you!”
