SO TIRED

I JUST CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE

There are different types of tiredness, there is the physical exhaustion of our energy or concentration which demands a good night sleep or a good meal or some quiet time with the Lord. Then there is the soul tiredness which comes from going beyond our part and taking responsibility for God’s part.

When we become tired from doing God’s will, we are in good company. My impression is that in the usual western church 90% do not get tired because they are doing nothing; then 5% are doing the Sunday school classes and youth outreach but they never asked God if that was what He really wanted them to do, they have decided what was right and proceeded asking God to back them up; then 4% have stopped and asked God what He want them to do but are trying to do God’s will in their own strength. (This is the most tiring of all approaches)

That leaves 1% who:
a. ask God to “Show me thy will.”
b. “Give me Thy power to act.”
c. “Thanks for this situation.”

Moses thought it was his job to lead the people out of Egypt and to bring water from rock-he became suicidally depressed.
Elijah thought he was the only God worshiper left-he became suicidally depressed.
John Wesley led people to salvation while they rode the cart to the gallows -he retired from being a missionary to Savannah Georgia a broken man.
Hudson Taylor returned from China a broken depressed man crushed by the burden of the people of China.
Watchman Nee became discouraged when he tried to act more dead to sin and alive to Christ and couldn’t  even after spending 40 days and nights fasting and praying.

These all loved God, His Word, His ways, His people, and loved God Himself, but burned out because they had not yet learned the SECRET.  (See Hudson Taylor’s spiritual secret.)

Galatians 2:20, Mattew 16:18John 15:5 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
That thou art _(your name)_, and ….. I will build my church, (not you; you obey, God gives the increase.)
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Moses, Elijah, John, Hudson, and Watchman all went on to superhuman accomplishment, without burnout when they learned-
the SECRET: to do their part and let go moment by moment of God’s part.
My part-to move my body parts according to a growing picture of God’s principles in action. God’s part-everything else.

Let go of:
a. Focusing on things we can do nothing about. Ask the question,”What am I supposed to do about that right now?” Turns out the answer is often, watch and see My salvation.
b. Making things bigger than they are. Who’s going to die and even if we all die, SO? He gets the last word! Do avoid words such as, have to, must, got to, Grace has moved all things from have to into sure would be nice.
c. Handling stress alone. All God’s commands are in “southern” Y’all.
d. Procrastinating-the extra stress is all wasted.
e. Continuing to review a situation once you have done your part.

Do take time to rejuvenate. Sunday is God’s idea.
Psalms 127 Verle Bell version: If god isn’t in it why do it? If He is, then get up at a reasonable time, sing while you work, get a good nights sleep. Anything
