Benefits of a Right Heart

No Fear of the Future

O that there were such an heart in [Verle], that [he] would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with [him], and with [his] children for ever! Deuteronomy 5:29

Do I fear for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren in this crazy world? “Never fear that, says the Lord, fear me.”

Live Long and Prosper

That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days, he, and his children. Deuteronomy 17:20

Lord, help me to lift up my brethren and keep your laws so that I might delight in this life for as long as you choose to leave me here.

Bless My Children

Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall be blessed. 2 Kings 10:30

I should not think my own thoughts or ponder and imagine my own goals in my heart, but ask the Holy Spirit to help me discern God’s heart.

He Hears Me

Because thine heart was tender and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee. 2 Kings 22:19

Thank you, Lord, for being a God who hears little old me. Teach me to have all of my conversation, my walk-and-talk with you, teach me to rend my heart for my country and fellow citizens who are dragging down God’s wrath on their heads. Let me not just sit and judge but rather bow and weep.

Find God

[Verle], know me the God of thy father [Gordon], and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for I the Lord search your heart, and understand all the imaginations of your thoughts: if you seek me, I will be found of thee; 1 Chronicles 28:9

Wonderful, if I seek, I will find him, if I come to God knowing that he is and that his very nature is to reward me for seeking him–reward me with himself!

I Will Prosper

And in every work that you begin in my name, and in the law, and in the commandments, do it to seek me. If you do it with all your heart you will prosper. 2 Chronicles 31:21

I have often done service in the kingdom because God is worthy and from a desire to be a blessing to others but have been left a little empty. Now I am trying to serve in his kingdom in order to draw closer to him and get to know him and sense his love for me (period).

He Pardons My Land

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

If  I humble my heart, perhaps the wrath of the Lord came not upon my country. God would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah if he does not punish the USA. Still, I see many of his people who are humbling themselves. I need to join them and plead for my country. Perhaps he might grant one more great awakening that engulfs even the people from every tribe and nation already on our shores.

He Sees Me

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong on [my behalf if my heart is] perfect before him. 2 Chronicles 16:9

He is not only the God who hears, he is the God who looks diligently and sees, not to destroy me or punish me, but to show himself strong into my weakness.  Much more would I then glory in my weakness. That way I have much to glory in as the chief of sinners and weakest of saints. I who am the least. So when I am weak then I am strong because his strength is made perfect in my weakness.”
