Hand in Hand

Recently there was a blind lady who won a Special Olympics race on a circular track and stayed in her lane the whole way running at full speed. How? She trusted and placed her hand in the hand of the guide who could see. We only need guidance for one step at a time. If we don’t fully trust our guide, we will run slowly and with no enthusiasm, or wait until we can see all. We want to “see” how it will all work out, are there pitfalls ahead? etc. Besides, from my viewpoint it will never work; I will lose the little I have; people will think I am crazy; it just isn’t fair; I’m not strong enough etc.

The Bible says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” This is not referring to a powerful flashlight or floodlight but to a lamp that illuminates about 4 feet ahead. Jesus said, “Take NO thought for tomorrow you have enough to deal with today”.

Casting all my cares on him, I need to run the race that is set before me, following where He leads me. I need to lay aside all the cares and sin, that so easily besets me and run patiently and with all my might. Letting go of my childish, “When will we get there?” Or, “How much of this running do I have to endure and what is the slowest acceptable?”

When I face any challenge, either resisting sin or reaching out to others, I need to let go of works. I need to let go of thinking that I need to do this so well on my own that God will be pleased. Instead, I need to face it with my hand in his crying, “I can’t, you can so let’s start running, with all our might.”

Lord, help me to revel in the race and delight in running at full speed with my hand in yours.

I saw that video, and was impressed mentally and spiritually. What a picture of Trust!! we would do well to keep our hand in the hand of the One Who created us.

As an exquisetly shy person, I find it painful to share and have no evidence that anyone has heard or been blessed. Your sharing, and the Holy Spirit’s prompting really help me to keep going, thanks.
